So, what's there to tell about me?

I'm Laura, 28 years old and from Germany.

Fear-Banner

Here at DeanDamage.com, I'm a member of the DamageControl. So if there's a problem or a question you have, just go ahead and sent me a message through the "Contact Us" link and I'll try to help out. I'm in Germany, so if you're somewhere in Europe, chances are good I'm online at the same time as you are.

I'm not always easy to reach during the weekend, but during the week I'm pretty much always around

I'm still relatively new to the fandom. Supernatural never caught my interest when it started airing here in Germany. Then a few months back, Isis_girl started bugging me to watch it. She kept using avatars of that strange guy with the name I could never remember on MSN, and when my first judgement of him was "he's slightly cross-eyed, isn't he?" I learned the hard way that yes, it is possible to get yelled at over an instant messenger.

In penance for that faux-pas, I watched the Pilot of Supernatural online. And then Wendigo. And then Dead in the Water. By the time I started watchig Phantom Traveler, I had ordered the season 1 and 2 box-sets on amazon. I watched everything that had been aired until the writer's strike stopped production in a little over a week.

And that's how it started.

By now I'm heavily addicted. I'm also able to remember Jensen Ackles' name by now, and have come to think of his slight cross-eyedness as an adorable trait (because honestly, everything about that guy is adorable).

I'm a big sucker for the brotherly relationship on the show, though I appreciate the humour and the action just as well. I'm a Dean girl through and through, but since I seem to put him out of commission pretty quickly in my stories, most of them have turned out very Sam-centric so far.

DeanDamage will be the place where I always post my Dean-whump stories first, just like Psychfic.com is the site that gets all my Psych stories first. I always upload everything on fanfiction.net as well, but often it takes me a while.

Nevertheless, there's some Supernatural stories in my account there that don't fit the DeanDamage guidelines concerning the Dean-whump, so be sure to check them out by following the link above.

Else I dabble in making graphics at times. I'm not the world's most artsy person, especially in the face of what some others on this site here are capable of, but I enjoy making the occasional banner or wallpaper.

I'm around on MSN for most of the day, so if you're in the mood for chatting, about Supernatural, Psych, life, the universe and everything, just chat me up at any time.

Phew, that's really all there is to say. I've ranted on for long enough, so now I leave you be to enjoy all the great stories here on DeanDamage!

I really liked it. The description in the first part of the story, during those scenes in the woods, were really great. All the detail about the looks and sounds created such a good picture and great atmosphere.

The voices of the boys were spot on, as was their behaviour - Dean's decision to press on the hunt even though he knew how bad his injury was, Sam's worry about his brother, his taking care of Dean, and that final realization of the blind faith he has in his brother, it was all done wonderfully. Congratulations on a great story, I really enjoyed it very much.

Author's Response:

Oh, wow! Thank you so much! I originally wrote this for a Halloween contest at UnGen (Supernaturalville), but then chickened out on submitting it. It was one of the first times I tried to focus on writing the action part of the story a little. Of course, I'm always thrilled to hear someone enjoyed it. It's the last one-shot I wrote and I posted it because its less emo and probably better written than my earlier works.

Thank you so much for reviewing!!!

Great story!

Nothing better than angsty Dean worried that Sam is going to leave him or has left him already.

And that ending, with Sam promising to always come for him and that he hasn't yet saved him (from that BIG thing...) yet was just perfect. Great story.

That was entirely too short *whines*

I'm still carrying a torch for John Winchester, even though he kinda ruined all redemption he had in my eyes at the end of IMTOD. But I'm curious as to where this is going.

Author's Response:

Don't worry, I do nothing to tarnish John's good name in this story! I love him too. So you'll just have to wait and see where this goes.

Glad you like it!

Lol, Maja - I laughed so hard when I read the summary, I just had to check it out.

And Dean was damaged, in a way, he was definitely cranky and complaining and driving Sam up the wall, so hey, I'm all for this! A little humour is needed in between all the whumping.

And seriously - an albino hedgehog? Dude, it should totally be on the show.

What a fantastic read. The story captured the characters so well and drew me in from the first paragraphs on. You capture the characters so well, it's amazing. Especially the brothers and their relationship, and the way they sometimes dodge around things instead of saying them out loud.

But most of all I love the attention to detail you showed in the story. The descriptions are amazing, and even the small details like the choices of songs simply fit so well.

I'm glad you decided to join the site, and I can't wait to see you post another story.

That starts omnious...And it got me thinking, which is always a quality I admire in a fic. Because yeah, Sam knows the difference between a vision and a nightmare, even if he doesn't quite admit it to himself there.

But what would get Dean to the point where he puts a gun against his own head? It's an interesting thought, one that also doesn't bode too well for Sam, since I think Dean being driven to that is closely connected to something bad happening to/going on with Sam...

This has definitely gotten me curious for more :D So please update soon.

Author's Response:

And that's how I approached this story. What would it take to make Dean desperate enough to do such a thing. Over time, as I wrote it, it kinda changed into something else, too. So basically this story was a response to that question and also a response to how I was feeling about different episodes during season two and maybe a tiny dash of personal stuff thrown in for good measure ;).

I'll try to get chapters up as quickly as possible, but I'm going back through each one as I go to make sure I catch things I didn't catch originally. And, I have a WIP that needs attention, too. But, hopefully, it won't take long to get this whole thing up.

Thank you so much for reading and reviewing. This story didn't get as much attention as my first multi-chapter did, but I personally like it better ;).

I know it has been done a lot lately. Just have to get it out. Clogging up my brain... Haunting me.

Okay, so once I saw your self-called "weird formatting" I was thinking this might not be for me. And then I started reading.

And gosh, this is so good. I didn't believe it at first (strange, what kind of perceptions something simple as formatting can put into your head), but this is so really good. Poor Dean, it was really heart-wrenching, and so good.

Author's Response:

Well hello Laura. A fellow German SN-Fan. Nice to meet you! Don't you feel like being in a completely Supernatural-free zone, too? I am soooo glad this online posting and chatting is possible for us poor German girls.

Thanks for the review. I normally don't do poetry and this one started out to be a stream of consciousness, kinda train of thought thing. The formatting put it in the poetry section I guess. Normally I do one shots, multichapters and even wee!chesters. But usually Dean gets at least one majorly bleeding wound out of it.

I will put my hurt!Dean stuff here over the next few days. Have to go over it once more. Some of it is a bit uneducated writing.... I've only started writing in English in April. So, still a bit clumsy.

Cheers, Ilka

I totally missed the "character death" warning you put up, and I was hping for a miracle for the entire time that I was reading this story.

*bawls eyes out in complrete dispair*

I just loved how Dean held on until Sam was there, and that you managed to bring John into this, but Dean...*sniff* Okay, so it's totally my fault for going into this unprepared. I mean, even the title was a dead giveaway.

But still, it was beautiful, even if it was also horribly sad.

Oh Dean. Is it sick that I love it when Dean's defences are totally down and we see all the raw emotions underneath?

Because I do, I really do.There's so many layers underneath that he just never shows (even when he wants to show them like he did here but couldn't), and htat's for a large part why I love the guy so much.

So especially those last three parts were an emo-whump fest for me. I wanted to hug the guy and never let him go again. But then again, that's my normal reaction to seeing Dean...or Jensen...*sigh*

Great job, Jenn, I was all giddy when I saw that you posted something :D And since it's not complete yet, I'll be waiting for more. Impatiently, as always ;-)

Author's Response:

HAH!  Always impatient, b/c I'm the queen of "leave-you-hanging".  But I promise not to do that here.  I WILL write Sam's POV.  But keep me focused, Laura, I still have to finish my Psych VS episode.  I'm so behind.

Back on task, thank you SO much for reviewing.  I'm really glad you liked the emotion, and I'm glad you liked the totally EMO-WHUMP FEST (I really like that saying) b/c I was feeling all evil when I was writing it.  It felt so *right*.

I'd love to hurl a sharp pointy object at you right now, but I'm too...I don't even know what to call it.

I love small insights into moments between the scenes that we get to see on screen, and you really manage to capture the despair really good. Dean with his mask down is always a thing to enjoy, sick as that sounds. And yeah, Dean in mental anguish over going to hell, but still, always making sure that Sam is all right - it's just so Dean.

And I'll take you up on that promise of a no-death fic in the future. Yes, it was a promise. You just didn't know until now.

hahaha! thank you for the awesome comment!! *giggles*

Ooooh, I really liked it. The inner monologue for both Sam and Dean is spot on, especially when Dean starts musing about needing Sam to find him. And worried Sam was the icing on the cake. I always admire it when somebody manages to convey so many emotions in such a short story.

Sam's reaction to the doctor's good news was fantastic, and the ending, open as it was, was just great. Me liked.

Okay, this was beautiful. In a heartwrenching, soul-tearing, make-me-want-to-cry-kind of way.

All the instances you picked are so beautiful and in character, and Dean's feelings of fear, helplessness and pain respectively were so tangible, it was a real treat to read it.

Sam's confusion upon waking up and finding that there was somebody else in his room was great, shows you how much really changed during those four months. It's not easy to fall back into old rhythms, no matter that everything is supposed to be fine now.

I distinctly remember reading this before, on fanfiction.net probably. But I'm sure I never reviewed, and reading it now I'm absolutely not sure why.

You really tell me that you wrote all this in one sitting? Because that is incredible, whether or not you pulled an all-nighter for it.

I'm a complete sucker for hurt/helpless Dean (otherwise I probably wouldn't be here, right?), and you managed to write his confusion and also desperation at not being able to remember so convincingly. The scenes when the memories started flashing back were great, his reaction to hearing Sam's name for the first time had me shivering, and when he remembered their father's death it was simply heartbreaking.

Not to mention that this story also had me completely hooked concerning who was the bad guy. For a lont while I was torn between wanting to believe Sophie, suspecting that she was using Dean's condition for her own sinister means, uncertainty about Rena (because surely, Sam wouldn't help him if there was something wrong with him, right?). The final reveal put everything into place nicely, but the fact that the story left me guessing for so long makes it all so much better.

And of course, it's always great to see a Sam and Dean reunion that is both heartbreaking, yet at the same time true to the characters that we see on the show. As much as I love to see hugging and clinging, sometimes the subtle notes are so much more powerful than that.

Thanks for sharing this, and again kudos for writing a piece like this in one sitting. That thought still doesn't want to get into my head :-)

Author's Response:

Yeah, it was all in one sitting. One bleary-eyed, butt-numbing sitting. I went back and smoothed over a couple of things the next day before I broke it up and started posting, but I told Thru Terry's Eyes that I kinda felt a little... possessed by this story. And I had the songs that were in the story playing at the time. I haven't had that happen since, but it was like grabbing hold of a live wire when it did.

That's probably why you can see so many typos, etc., in this. I haven't gone back through to fix them...

I'm so glad you decided to review here. AND that you felt compelled to read again -- that is a rush for me. I'm with you on the hugging and clinging... there are times when that is so right. But when I wrote this, it was Season 2, and they hadn't done much actual hugging yet -- they were still doing that manly dance with maybe a slap or two on the back, y'know?

Thank you for reading and taking time to offer me your gift of a review.

I am grateful.

Slainte,

Gaelic
