Author's Response: Lol, I totally timed this so that it would be the first fic up once Jessica got the site started, lol. Glad you liked it, thanks a lot for the review.
Awesome story! I love sick/injured Dean and protective/caretaker Sam. Great job, can't wait to read another one.
Dad this is freaking amazing. The emotions you've got down here are so spot on and perfect for both boys from start to finish. The worry and then despair at being left alone, it's done soooo well.
And to get them through all these worries and concerns in this way, soooooo fantastic. Gah, sometimes I want to hate you for it.
Author's Response: Hate me? Now that's not a nice thing to say to your father, kiddo ;-) But seriously, I'm all giddy here that you enjoyed this one. For all the whump and hurt and angst, it was way too much fun to write, lol :D Thanks for the great review.
I'm glad that Sammy told Dean what went on while he was out, that he really needs to confide in Sam when he is injured. Hopefully, he got the message and won't be doing that again any time soon. Great story!
Author's Response: Thanks a lot for the reviews. I'm glad that you liked the story, and thanks for taking the time to review as you read along.
Awww.... Sammy was there, and seems to be perhaps someone else as well. Hopefully, Dean will start getting better. Great chapter!
Author's Response: No, that's all pure Sammy. Nobody else around. Dean is just a little too befuddled to realize that now.
I'd say this qualifies as a cliffhanger. Having convulsions could lead to death or brain damage! I think Sam might have to call 911! Dean is in a bad way!
Author's Response: Honestly, what would a Dean-whump story be without a cliffhanger? Lol. I just couldn't resist.
Oh poor Dean! He should have said something to Sammy about his injuries, but that is what Dean would do, keep it to himself. Sam does indeed have a long night ahead of him, poor guy. Great beginning!
Author's Response: Thanks for the review, I'm glad you like the start. I love the assumption that Dean would forego his own injuries if there was something he deemed more important, and after watching Shadow again I just couldn't help myself. Thanks a lot.
Just a great fic hun, i loved it all around. Nice rol reversed there with Sam being the big bro and his great speach about freedom...
just wondeful!!!
congrats
Author's Response: Thanks a lot. I'm really glad you liked the story, I had a great time writing it.
great chappie!!!! i love all the poetry in it..good job darling!!!
Author's Response: Thanks a lot for the reviews. I really appreciate you dropping me lines for the single chapters as you read along, and I'm really glad you enjoyed this story so far. Thanks a lot.
Wow poor little Dean!!! that´s a lot of bad thoughts. Go Sammy!!! keep reading, keep reading......
Author's Response: Lol, that is the comfortable thing of reading it when the next chapter is already posted ;-)
Wow hun this first chapter is awesome......i won´t lose time reviewing sorry doll, must keep reading and find out what´s next!!!!
Author's Response: Lol, I think I brought that upon myself then ;-) Thanks for taking the time to drop a line anyway.
much angst.
Author's Response: Thanks a lot.
read it like wacthing an epi.
Author's Response: Thank you!
amazing story!I read it all and I loved it,especially the last part:)
Author's Response: Thanks a lot, I'm glad you liked the story. It was really fun to write ;-) Thanks for the review.
I swear I just wanted a quick break from work -- just wanted to read one chapter... but then I couldn't stop. "Shadows" is hands-down my favorite S1 episode... perhaps my favorite overall, the jury is still out on that. I love tags to it, but I think you have topped all that I've read. This was excellent, and while the h/c was stellar, what got to me most was the conversation at the end.
Sam asking Dean to let him grow up. I mean, it's like... sending your kid off to school or in the car for the first time. I've not felt that yet, but I can tell you the first day of daycare I was crying the whole time. It's so *hard* not to watch them every minute. To trust that you taught them enough and that they've learned enough that the bad guys can't get them. My heart just broke for Dean.
I loved his "Please, kill me now," comment when Sam revealed that he'd been talking in his delirium.
Very worthwhile read and a nice hit in the middle of a hectic day.

Author's Response:Wow. Talk about getting floored right before going to bed. Thanks for the awesome review, it really cheered up my struggle with the flu bug.
Until not too long ago I wouldn't have counted Shadow amongst my favourite episodes, to be honest. But since the season 3 finale I've re-discovered my love for season 1. I just love the unsettled brotherly relationship, the time when they weren't really at ease with each other like the are later on. There's just so much potential there, especially with John still alive and thrown into the mix. And the more often I watched season 1, the more Shadow stood out, until I couldn't help but write this tag.
So I can't tell you how excited I am that you like the story the way it came out. I'm still comparatively new to the fandom, and despite being a Dean girl through and through I've mostly written Sam-centric pieces before, so at times I still find it hard to find the right voice for Dean. So it always makes me glad when people like my stories, because I love diving into this world and telling them. Thanks for the awesome review, it really brightened my day!
Ooohhh, I liked this one very much. There's just something special about a feverish Dean.
Author's Response: Lol, yeah there is something about him. Feverish, injured - whenever his defences are down that's when I love him most :D Thanks a lot for the review, I'm glad you liked the story.
Great job.
I'm glad that Sam was able to tell Dean how he felt -and that Dean was forced to listen - stubborn as he is.
Thanks for writing!
Author's Response: Thanks for reading :) I'm glad you liked it. And it wasn't as if Sam was giving Dean any other choice but to listen. He just snapped, lol. Thanks for the review.
That was beautiful.
I loved every word.
This bit was so Dean:
But if it was, then dying was pretty much a disappointment. No flashy slideshow of the important parts of his life, no big revelations about the mysteries of life, death, the universe and everything.
Author's Response: Thanks :-) I have written a few Supernatural fics before, but especially the longest one barely contained any Dean since it started after the season 3 finale. And there are moments when I realize that I'm still not as used ot writing Dean as I am to writing Sam. So I'm glad it worked out, thanks for all the reviews.
Aaahhh - convulsing Dean. I think it qualifies as a cliffhanger. :-)
I really like how you go back and forth between Dean's delirious thoughts and Sam trying to take care of him.
Great job on the bathtub scene - I could picture it happening, Sam getting soaked, the whole thing.
Author's Response: Thanks. This was insanely much fun to write, considering what I was putting Dean through. So I'm glad that the scenes worked out the way I wanted them to.
I love tags to episodes that so desperately need one. Episodes that end with a bloody and hurt Dean, that is.
This is great. I love how you have Sam angry in the beginning, thinking that no one consults with him - it's a great twist when he discovers Dean is hurt.
Author's Response: I see that we're in the same boat as far as the episode tags are concerned. They just leave too much unanswered, so we just have to step in and finish telling the stories. Thanks for the review.
Cool story!
I know Dean was hurt more seriously that he let on but as always he wanted to protect his brother.
And he didn't want his dad putting himself in danger by staying with them because he was worried about Dean...
Author's Response: Lol, don't start revealing parts that I saved up for the next chapter ;-) But yeah, I think you're absolutely right with that. And when I re-watched Shadow and saw how Dean was holding his side at the end, and that pained grimace when he got in the car, I couldn't help but expand a little on what happened in the episode. I'm glad you liked it, thanks a lot for the review.
beautiful!more I read this story more I like it!
Author's Response: Thank you! The next chapter will be the last, sadly, but it's longer than all the chapters before and I hope you'll like it too. I'll post it after it's proof read. Thanks a lot for the review, I'm glad you like the story.
I love this story. :) You write fantastic... :)
Author's Response: Thank you so much!
YES THAT WAS A STINKIN' CLIFFHANGER!
Great read, the angst was supurbe and the hurt-Dean wonderful. You do plan to finish .. right?
Author's Response:Of course I plan to finish. The next chapter is already halfway done, and I hope between being busy and everything, I'll get it up on Sunday afternoon (European time). Hope that helps, lol.
But thanks for the review. So admittedly, I guess it was kind of a cliffhanger. It was the caps that convinced me ;-)
Speaking professionally, any chapter that ends with the reader going, "HEY!!" in a loud frustrated voice qualifies as a cliffhanger.
Author's Response: Lol, I had feared as much. I think as a reader, I'd have definitely qualified that as a cliffie as well. But I'm working on the next chapter. Thanks a lot for the review.
